Enabling Seamless Device Usage in Aged Care with Strike’s Integrated Solutions

Overview

A technology integrator supporting multiple aged care facilities across Australia approached Strike to help deploy a scalable and hygienic charging solution for smartphones used by carers. These devices—rugged Android handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy XCover7—needed to be protected with belt-clip cases and reliably charged at nurse stations around the clock.


Strike worked closely with the integrator to develop a customised, fully integrated device charging solution, covering both multi-bay charging stations and medical-grade rugged cases that were compatible with disinfectant wipes and demanding care environments.

The Challenge

  • Devices needed to be docked at nurse stations quickly and easily throughout the day and night (“drop and go”)

  • Cases had to be robust and include belt clips that didn’t detach, to avoid loss or confusion during shifts

  • Cradles had to suit the specific dimensions of rugged cases with belt clips attached

  • Strict infection control requirements meant all components needed to be easily cleaned with medical-grade wipes

The Solution

Custom Charging System

Strike’s Brisbane-based design team engineered a tailored charging setup using our 6-bay desktop cradle system, which allowed up to six smartphones to be charged simultaneously at each station.

Rugged Cases for Healthcare Use

To pair with these cradles, we supplied our Strike Rugged Case with Belt Clip, designed specifically for enterprise-grade devices like the Galaxy XCover7. These cases are:

  • Disinfectant-compatible – suitable for medical-grade cleaning agents

  • Drop-tested and durable

  • Equipped with integrated belt clips to reduce lost or detached components

  • Designed in tandem with our cradle system for seamless compatibility

Where necessary, our team advised on removing elements like port protectors to ensure a smoother cradle fit and maintain charging efficiency.
