Strike: iPhone 6 & 6s Hands-on Review

The new Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were released last September 9 in San Francisco and is now being distributed across 12 countries through Apple stores and resellers. Are you excited to get your hands on these two phones? Yes, we are too.

They say the S in iPhone models stands for “something special”. Read on this hands-on review to find out what is something special in these two smartphones.

New colour -the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are now available in rose gold, the 4th colour option in addition to space gray, gold and silver. Apparently the rose gold come back is not just on jewelries and designer watches. After the hype with the gold variant, this rose gold version is quite obvious to become a hit to Apple fans as well. To those male Apple fans out there, they say real macho men are proud to wear pink. I’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Powerful 3D Touch -When you hold press a little harder on the phone icon, you get a menu of options to choose from. If you perform this action on the camera icon then you can choose whether to take selfie, record video, record slow motion or simply take photo.

Peek and pop -or preview mode with actions. Especially useful when accessing your Mail inbox. You can “peek” on the message content of a certain email. But being able to peek on it does not mean you have already read it. What happens is, the message pops up and you begin to navigate through it. Swipe to the left to delete and swipe again for a variety of other actions.

12 MP Camera

-capture sharp and beautiful photos with iPhone 6S’ 12 megapixel camera. With 5MP Facetime HD camera. Aiming for that natural, no filter look on your images? iPhone 6S gives you that and more. It almost delivers to reflect exactly what you see and how you see your subject.

4K Videos- you can now set your video recording from 720p HD up to 4K at 30 frames per second. There’s a new slow-mo option of 1080p HD at 120 frames per second. The more exciting part is, you get to edit your 4K video on your phone.

Live Photos - Another new feature for the iPhone 6S. How exactly does it work? It works automatically, by default. As soon as you take a photo, it shoots a video for one-and-a-half seconds. It comes out as a regular jpeg once uploaded to Facebook or Instagram. But try sending it to someone with iOS9 using their Apple iPhone, iPad or Mac and they’ll be able to view the “video” of your shot as well. It can be used as your locked screen too. How cool is that?

iOS9 - I bet you have got to love the key feature of this upgrade- better battery management with a lower power mode. A smarter & improved SIRI is also made available which can predict apps that you use based on history.

Design - A part from the entrant of the rose gold variant, the screen remains at 4.7 with 1334 x 750pi resolution of 326 pixels per inch. iPhone 6S comes in three sizes; 16 GB, 64GB and 128 GB. Built with a 64-bit A9 chip, 70% faster than iPhone 6.

So I thought the S on iPhones just takes its predecessor around 5x better. 3 things that excite me about these two new smartphones is 1. Rose gold 2. Powerful 3D Touch and lastly, 3. Peek & Pop. So if you’re looking for a phone upgrade, now is the best time to grab your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.
