FAQ's for Strike Genius Motorcycle GPS
The headset is giving off a lot of static and/or very poor noise quality.
NOTE: It is normal to have some level of static noise when using the Strike Genuis GPS with attached headset. However you should be able to receive voice instructions without problems.
Excessive static could be a result of a problem with the set up of the Genius’ GPS transmitter, there should not be a problem with the transmitter after the following checks are made:
• Ensure the GPS transmitter is properly hardwired into your motorcycle
• Ensure the transmitter is clasped firmly in its holder
• Ensure the transmitter’s power lead is kept straight at all times. It must not be loose. Cable curls can result in significant interference and static. If the cable is too long to be kept straight then cut it so it is kept straight. Plugging this cable into motorcycle power source (battery or wires) should also improve signal quality.
· The FM receiver should be placed on the right hand side of the helmet, the earphone should be placed on the left hand side of the helmet.
It may also be worthwhile to try some other simple processes, such as:
• Turning the volume up on the headset. The volume controls are located on the face of the headset.
• Volume can also be controlled through the screen via the setup icon in the main menu.
• Resetting the device. This is done by pressing the reset button using the touchpen. The reset key is on the back of the display unit, in the bottom right hand corner.
• Problems could be a result of a poor connection between the earphone and the device, ensure the earphone is inserted correctly.
